I thought about beginning this blog with the title, "The Beginning" but that seemed too plain. "Hello" or "Good Afternoon" would be cordial, but quite boring. I could try to be dramatic and start with "CRAAAASSHHHHH" and then give some funny anecdotal story of an explosion involving me and my tricycle when I was a toddler, but no.
Instead, I am going to begin with one of my favorite words of all time... "Cheers!" It is a word that seems to be universal in its positivity (you truly can't say "cheers" in a negative manner... try it!) and amazing in its flexibility. The first time I heard the word being spoken without the ceremonial champagne flute collision directly following it was one of the first few days that I arrived for my few months of study at Oxford University. It quickly became one of the most coveted items in my mediocre, but hopefully, rapidly expanding vocabulary (I try to use a new ridiculous word every day; many times it simply sounds awkward with the rest of the sentence, but you have to take risks). "Cheers" can be used in so many different ways. It is used as a common greeting, as a thank you for something, could be a goodbye and even an email salutation! Amazing!!!
Anyway, that is how I settled on the title of the first post. I am using it to welcome everyone to my new blog. By the way, I did have some reservations to starting this as I didn't want to be "that guy," but reading other people's web logs (the word "blog" annoys me so I will cease using it from this point forward) was very helpful to me in choosing to get my MBA, which schools to apply to and finally where I decided to sign on the dotted line to attend. It is my hope I can help others out with the same questions as well as help me simply organize my thoughts. I hope reading it is as satsifying as that "first scissor cut on a fresh piece of paper!" (High Expectations, I know).
